Anthony Shays is an award-winning artist/photographer who has become well known for capturing beauty everywhere. His work has appeared in magazines, on calendars and postcards, as well as being purchased for private homes and commercial buildings throughout the country. Over the past 10 years he’s been active in many Arts and Crafts shows around the East Coast, with two tents filled with photography in many mediums that have brought joy to thousands.
While Anthony has traveled with his camera extensively, he spent most of his life living in Fairfield Country, CT with his wife and three children. Recently, Anthony moved to Easton, MD with his wife Betty to retire and enjoy the simple life, but he couldn’t shake the itch to keep creating and connecting with people, so he’s started taking photographs once again to share with the world.
What separates Anthony from most other photographers is his unusual eye. He sees things that most people, including other professional photographers, do not observe and he is able to capture the essence and beauty of most everything he sees. Anthony is particularly gifted at photographing people. His clients often comment that he captures their natural beauty in a comfortable setting where his subjects feel they can be themselves.
In college Anthony took classes in oil and water-color painting, he studied works from the great artists and painters throughout history and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. As Anthony’s reputation grew as he found ways to combine his photography skills with his artistic ability and began producing stylistic works that he has trademarked “True Life Paintings™.” These works of fine art are printed on regular photo paper, as well as painter’s canvas, to look like oil paintings or on watercolor paper to look like watercolor paintings. This unique fusion of painting and photography led Anthony to the name “The Artist with the Camera.”
